Kristen Strom


San Jose saxophonist Kristen Strom has been a mainstay on the Bay Area music scene for nearly two decades, acclaimed for beautifully rendered melodies, exceptional tonality, and accomplished musicianship. In addition to regular performances with her own quintet, Strom has played alongside many well-known artists, including Manhattan Transfer, Gladys Knight, the Temptations, Natalie Cole, The Four Tops, Roberta Flack, Johnny Mathis, Jimmy Heath, Steve Turre, and Jon Faddis. She released a highly regarded solo album, Intention, and has recorded and toured the world with several jazz and pop artists.

Wally Schnalle

Wally Schnalle is a busy man. And he stays that way juggling rolls as a drummer, composer, educator, journalist and bandleader. With 5 CD’s as leader released over the past ten years. His ensembles have performed at top shelf jazz venues such as Yoshis in the SF Bay Area as well as major Jazz Festivals like The Monterey Jazz Festival, The San Jose Jazz Festival, San Francisco's Jazz in the City as well as San Jose’s SoFA festival. He also stays busy as a sideman, recording and performing often with musicians all a in a myriad of styles. Schnalle also acts as music editor for both Traps and DRUM! Magazines. His drum transcriptions and educational columns have served to enlighten and educate readers internationally for years. Schnalle also teaches drums both privately and as a clinician. He has also been the recipient of an Artist-In-Residence Grant from the California Arts Council. Wally plays and endorses Pearl Drums and Zildjian Cymbals. And most importantly his name rhymes!

Hristo Vitchev

Hristo Vitchev is a modern jazz guitarist and composer from Sofia, Bulgaria. Now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Hristo leads his modern impressionistic-jazz quartet which features the Latin Grammy-nominated pianist Weber Iago, drummer extraordinaire Joe De Rose, and virtuoso bassist Dan Robbins. Hristo has toured nationally and internationally with a wide variety of formations and has also performed guitar clinics in Europe and Japan. He has written more than 200 original compositions, many articles on jazz improvisation, and a book on chordal theory and construction entitled Between the Voicings: A New Approach to Chord Building for Guitarists.
